    Fire Ravages Mumbai’s Govandi: Impact on 15 Businesses and Residential Properties

    Mumbai: According to an official, the flames spread to encompass various items, including electrical wiring and installations, plastic sheets, household belongings, wooden planks, and furniture. Efforts to extinguish the fire were actively in progress.

    In the early hours of February 17, a fire erupted in a chawl in Mumbai‘s Govandi area, causing damage to approximately 15 commercial units and some residential houses. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, according to an official statement. The fire brigade received a call at 3.55 a.m., prompting a swift response to the blaze. The incident occurred at Bainganwadi in the Adarsh Nagar area of Govandi.

    The fire extensively affected around 15 commercial units on the ground floor and several houses on the first floor within the chawl. The flames consumed various items, including electrical wiring, installations, plastic sheets, household belongings, wooden planks, and furniture. Emergency personnel were actively engaged in ongoing efforts to extinguish the flames.

    Upon receiving the alert, water tankers and an ambulance were promptly dispatched to the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
