New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party strongly rebuffed the Aam Aadmi Party‘s assertion that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal would govern from jail, asserting that only ‘gangs’ resort to governance from behind bars.

Bharatiya Janata Party MP Manoj Tiwari asserted that residents of Delhi are jubilantly distributing sweets to mark Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest, alleging that the AAP leader had plundered the national capital.

Tiwari accused Kejriwal’s government of plunging Delhi into despair and stated that the populace’s anger towards him was evident in the celebratory gestures following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on charges related to the liquor policy case.

Despite Kejriwal’s incarceration, AAP affirmed on Friday that he would retain his position as the Chief Minister of Delhi and would continue to govern from jail.

The BJP has called for Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation on ethical grounds, emphasizing that governance is not conducted from jail. Manoj Tiwari highlighted the distinction between running a government and running a gang from behind bars.

In contrast, AAP insists that Kejriwal will persist as CM, asserting that the decision reflects public sentiment after consulting with MLAs, councillors, and constituents.

BJP accuses Kejriwal of corruption, while Congress views his arrest as an assault on democracy, attributing it to the BJP’s apprehension about the INDIA bloc’s influence in the upcoming elections.

Following a court’s decision to remand Kejriwal to ED custody until March 28, AAP and its allies plan a protest at Shaheedi Park, with Gopal indicating widespread participation, including Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann. Delhi Police have arranged security for the event.
