Kanker: In a collaborative effort between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the District Reserve Guard (DRG) in Chhattisgarh‘s Kanker district, a successful operation resulted in the elimination of 29 Naxals, including a prominent leader, Shankar Rao, who had a bounty of Rs 25 lakh on his head.
The encounter also led to three soldiers sustaining injuries, with 18 Naxal bodies recovered. Additionally, a significant arsenal of weapons, including seven AK-47 rifles and three light machine guns, was seized from the scene by officials.

Police have warned of a potential rise in the death toll following the recent encounter between law enforcement and Naxal insurgents in the Maad area.
The skirmish occurred just days before the Lok Sabha elections, adding tension to the region as residents of Kanker prepare to cast their votes on April 26 during the second phase of polling.
