Cricket: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Rinku Singh has been with the same Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise for 7 years. A couple of seasons ago, Rinku began to truly showcase his potential, winning matches for KKR, and his consistency even earned him a call-up to the Indian national team. He remains part of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 roster, albeit as a reserve player. Despite being one of the finest finishers in India’s T20 format, Rinku earns a relatively modest salary of ₹55 lakh at KKR. In contrast, his IPL teammate Mitchell Starc earns a staggering ₹24.75 crore.

If Rinku decides to leave KKR and enter the auction pool, even a ₹10 crore bid might not be enough to secure his services. When asked about his low salary at KKR, Rinku demonstrated his humble mentality, stating that even ₹50-55 lakh is a substantial amount for him.

“Even ₹50-55 lakh is a lot. When I started, I never imagined I would earn this much. As a kid, if I got even 5-10 rupees, I was happy. Now, earning ₹55 lakh is incredible, and I should be grateful for whatever God gives me. This is my thinking. I don’t believe I deserve more money. I’m very happy with ₹55 lakh. When I had nothing, I understood the value of money,” Rinku told Dainik Jagaran in an interview.

Rinku isn’t the type to chase after money. He highlighted that people come into the world and leave it the same way, without any money, emphasizing the importance of staying grounded.

“If I tell you the truth, all this is an illusion. You bring nothing with you, nor will you take anything with you. You never know when time will change. I believe you have to leave the world the same way you came. Staying grounded is what matters,” Rinku said.
