New Delhi: In preparation for Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony as the Prime Minister of India on Sunday, authorities have implemented extensive security measures across Delhi. These measures include prohibitory orders and designating the city as a no-fly zone.

President Droupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Modi and his cabinet ministers at 7:15 pm on Sunday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s Forecourt.

Key Points on Delhi’s Security Arrangements:

    1. Top Delhi Police officials conducted a thorough security review at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in preparation for the event.
    2. Special security arrangements are in place for foreign dignitaries, including Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremasinghe, and Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay.
    3. Enhanced security protocols have been established at the hotels where these foreign guests will stay.
    4. The city police have issued an advisory declaring a ‘No-Fly Zone’ over the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi.
    5. The advisory prohibits sub-conventional aerial platforms to prevent potential threats from criminal or terrorist activities during the ceremony.
    6. These restrictions will be effective from June 9 to June 10.
    7. Specific aerial platforms such as para-gliders, UAVs, hot air balloons, and others are banned over Delhi during this period to ensure safety.
    8. Violators of these rules will be penalized and prosecuted under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
    9. The Rashtrapati Bhavan has canceled the weekly Change of Guard Ceremony on June 8.
    10. These security measures follow the formal appointment of Narendra Modi as the prime minister-designate by the President on Friday.

Modi was elected as the NDA’s Parliamentary leader after a meeting of the alliance’s newly elected MPs on Friday. Later, he met President Murmu and staked a claim to form the government. She appointed Modi as the prime minister-designate after BJP president J. P. Nadda handed her a letter confirming Modi’s election as the leader of the BJP Parliamentary Party.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Results: According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, which is lower than its 2019 tally of 303. The Congress made significant gains, winning 99 seats. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured 293 seats, while the INDIA bloc won 234 seats.
