Ahmedabad: Another road accident due to speeding claimed two young lives in the city. A speeding Brezza car hit a parked car on a flyover near Palladium Mall on SG Highway on Saturday night, killing two and injuring six. The police reported that Sonu Dhaida, 23, an employee of a private firm, had gone to Bhatt Village for dinner in his I-20 car with his friends Alpesh Gangdekar, 30, Mayur Aduja, 28, and Kamal Advani, 26.

Around 2:30 AM, on their return, they stopped on the flyover near Palladium Mall as Kamal needed to attend to nature’s call. Kamal and Alpesh exited the car and were standing on the flyover when a speeding Brezza car came from behind and rammed into them and their car. The impact was so strong that Kamal and Alpesh were flung into the air and landed on the road, sustaining serious injuries. Sonu and Mayur, who were in the car, also suffered injuries.

Other commuters gathered and called the police. All four were rushed to the hospital where Alpesh and Kamal succumbed to their injuries, while Sonu and Mayur were reported to be in critical condition. Prabhu Devasi, 42, Rekha Devasi, 32, Arjun Devasi, 37, and Laduben Devasi, who were in the Brezza car, also sustained injuries and are currently under treatment.

The police investigation revealed that Prabhu, a resident of Moriya village in Changodar and owner of a utility shop, was driving the Brezza. He and his family were returning from Rajasthan after visiting his parents.
