Ahmedabad: A dead cockroach was reportedly discovered in the sambar served to guests at a five-star hotel in Ahmedabad on Wednesday morning. This incident led the local civic body to close the hotel’s kitchen for 48 hours, according to officials.
The discovery was made during an event at the ‘Hyatt Ahmedabad‘ hotel in the Vastrapur area. A guest noticed the cockroach in his sambar, recorded a video, and reported the issue through the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC)’s Food Department portal, as explained by Bhavin Joshi, the designated officer.
Joshi stated, “A guest found a dead cockroach in the sambar and informed the hotel management. After making a video, he filed a formal complaint with us. Our inspection revealed that the ‘Indian Kitchen’ section was in an unsanitary condition, so we promptly sealed the kitchen.”
The AMC’s closure notice, posted on the kitchen door, stated that the area will remain closed for 48 hours to protect public health. It also warned of legal consequences if the kitchen is reopened without proper authorization.
