Girl Scores 705 in NEET but Fails Class 12 Again

Ahmedabad: A girl from Gujarat, who initially achieved a remarkable score of 705 out of 720 in the NEET-UG, later failed her Class 12 (science) board exams and has now also failed her supplementary exams, making her ineligible for college admission. Her case drew attention due to the seeming inconsistency between her high NEET score and failure in board exams. She failed the physics and chemistry papers in the March board exams and subsequently took supplementary exams in June, failing physics again with only 22 marks compared to 21 initially. In chemistry, she scored the passing mark of 33 on her second attempt, up from 31.

This situation has raised serious doubts about the legitimacy of her NEET score, especially given recent scrutiny over NEET irregularities by the apex court. A senior educator emphasized the improbability of a student failing state board exams but excelling in a competitive national medical entrance test, calling for an investigation. Although her NEET and HSC science marksheets, both with identical names, circulated on social media, the validity of these belonging to the same individual remains unverified by media. Her NEET score was adjusted to 700 after a Supreme Court committee’s ruling on one question.

Despite her impressive NEET performance, ranking her in the top percentiles and potentially qualifying for a free seat at a top medical college, her inability to pass the HSC exams has disqualified her from admission.
