Ahmedabad: If you thought Gujarat was done with weather disturbances this monsoon, think again. A new system, a well-marked low-pressure area from the Bay of Bengal, is headed towards Gujarat and is expected to impact local weather from September 1 onwards, bringing heavy to very heavy rainfall.

According to the IMD, heavy rain is likely in parts of Navsari and Valsad on Sunday, with heavy to very heavy showers expected in Vadodara and Chhota Udepur on Monday. Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, and Narmada are forecasted to receive heavy rain on Tuesday, while Narmada and Bharuch could see heavy to very heavy rain on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Ahmedabad remained mostly sunny on Friday, with a maximum temperature of 33.2°C, near the normal range. Light rain is expected today.

Additionally, a deep depression near the Kutch coast has intensified into a cyclonic storm named ‘Asna’, moving west-northwest at 6 km/h. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts the storm will continue moving away from India over the next two days. As of Friday, ‘Asna’ was situated 100 km west-northwest of Naliya and 170 km southeast of Karachi, Pakistan. The IMD expects the storm to weaken back into a deep depression by Sunday over the Arabian Sea.
