Ahmedabad: A 54-year-old woman from Chandkheda filed a complaint with the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) police on Monday, accusing a stock market agent from Gandhinagar of cheating her family out of Rs 36.69 lakh. Vandna Sharma, who lives in Anandbhumi Society on IOC Road, stated that her husband, Santkumar Sharma, 63, is a retired ONGC employee, and their son, Vidit Sharma, 29, is a film actor.

According to Vandna, the family met the accused, Jalaj Dave from Randesan, Gandhinagar, in 2020. In 2021, Dave advised the Sharma family to invest in stock market IPOs, promising returns within 21 days. Vandna alleged in the FIR that between 2021 and 2022, her family invested around Rs 38.44 lakh and received a profit of Rs 1.75 lakh. However, Dave failed to return their principal amount of Rs 36.69 lakh or any additional profit. Vandna has now filed a complaint with the DCB police, accusing Dave of breach of trust and cheating under the Indian Penal Code.
