Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is set to launch pay-and-park facilities at eight locations in the western part of the city. Tenders have been issued for parking lots near Sola Kargil petrol pump, Gota overbridge, Science City Road, Vodafone on SG Highway, Vishwas City in Chandlodia, Thaltej ADB water tank, Ganesh Glory in Jagatpur, and along the stretch from Iskcon Crossroads to Chimanbhai Institute in Vejalpur.
These lots can hold 2,072 two-wheelers and 1,014 four-wheelers, with parking fees applied. The charge for two hours of parking is Rs 5 for two-wheelers and Rs 15 for four-wheelers, while 24-hour rates are Rs 47 and Rs 119, respectively. To reduce traffic congestion from erratic parking, the AMC has also designated 66 plots across the city as free parking zones.
In addition, parking facilities have been developed at 175 locations, accommodating 42,991 two-wheelers and 10,860 four-wheelers. Charges apply at multilevel and underbridge parking areas, while on-street parking has been introduced on certain roads, including CG Road. The AMC is also building new multilevel parking structures and expanding on-street parking options to increase capacity.
