Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad University has launched the Climate Institute, focusing on executive education for mid-career professionals, global research collaborations, and partnerships with tech startups to address environmental challenges. The institute will provide certification programs in sustainability for corporate professionals and specialized courses on climate and energy for government employees.

One of the few institutes in Gujarat with a dedicated focus on climate change, it will introduce an undergraduate program in “Climate, Energy, and Environment” in 2026. The institute will also foster international research collaborations with universities from the US, Europe, and Asia. Notable partnerships include the University of Chicago’s Energy Policy Institute (EPIC) setting up a center at Ahmedabad University, and collaborations with the London School of Economics (LSE) and Warwick University.

Under the leadership of Dr. Balaji Srinivasan, the Founding Executive Director, and Professor Minal Pathak as Academic Director, the institute will concentrate on key research areas like Cities and Settlements, Energy and Climate Change, and Air and Water. An advisory board featuring distinguished experts from institutions such as the University of Chicago and MIT Sloan School of Management will guide its initiatives.
