    Big Diwali Gifts: Rs 1,664 Crore Funding for Four Civic Bodies

    Ahmedabad: On Tuesday, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel gave initial approval for Rs 1,664 crore for 502 development projects under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana. This initiative is set to enhance living standards in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, and Gandhinagar. The CM also approved Rs 67.70 crore for Phase II of the Underground Sewerage Scheme, benefiting Bhachau, Dhanera, Dakor, and Khedbrahma municipalities.

    The projects cover improvements in roadways, drainage, water supply, street lighting, and more. Key goals include easing urban traffic, constructing flyover bridges, enhancing urban mobility, and fostering unique city identities.

    Additionally, Rs 380 crore was allocated for six flyover projects in Surat. In Ahmedabad’s outgrowth areas, Rs 316 crore was approved for 46 projects, focusing on drainage, sewage treatment, roadway upgrades, and enhancements in the West, North, Northwest, and Southwest zones.

    In Vadodara, Rs 68.04 crore has been allocated for 50 projects targeting water supply, drainage, rainwater management, road improvements, and street lighting. Gandhinagar will see Rs 144.43 crore allocated to 22 infrastructure projects, including Rs 36 crore for landscaping, beautification, and public spaces.
