The Indian electric vehicle (EV) market is steadily expanding, with offerings now catering to various size and price segments. Hyundai is kicking off 2025 with the much-anticipated launch of the Creta Electric, the EV version of its best-selling compact SUV. Bookings for the Hyundai Creta Electric are now open, with a token fee of ₹25,000, available through online and offline channels.
Hyundai Creta Electric: Key Details
The Hyundai Creta Electric has garnered significant attention since its recent unveiling, capitalizing on the popularity of its ICE (internal combustion engine) counterpart. Designed to appeal to a wide audience, the Creta Electric is expected to be a game-changer in India’s EV segment.
Trim Levels and Battery Options
The Creta Electric is available in five trim levels:
- Executive
- Smart
- Smart (O)
- Premium
- Excellence
The mid-spec Smart (O) trim is unique, offering both 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery options. This strategy caters to budget-conscious buyers while providing a range upgrade option.
Colour Options
The Creta Electric is offered in eight colours, including five metallic shades and three matte finishes:
- Metallic Shades: Atlas White, Abyss Black Pearl, Fiery Red Pearl, Starry Night, and Ocean Blue (exclusive to the EV).
- Matte Finishes: Robust Emerald Matte, Titan Grey Matte, and Ocean Blue Matte (exclusive to the EV).
- Dual-Tone Options: Black roof paired with Atlas White or Ocean Blue.
Atlas White, a favourite among Indian buyers, is available across all trims, while other shades are offered on specific trims starting from Smart (O) and above.
Design and Features
The Creta Electric combines elements of the standard ICE Creta and the sporty Creta N Line. Key exterior highlights include a unique closed-off grille, distinctive front and rear bumpers, and a modern design language.
The interior features several upgrades:
- A new steering wheel inspired by Hyundai’s global Ioniq lineup.
- Steering column-mounted gear selector and Hyundai’s quad-dot logo.
- Features like dual 10.2-inch screens, Bose audio, a V2L socket, digital key, level-2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, blind spot monitoring, and ventilated front seats.
Performance
The Creta Electric is powered by two battery options:
- 42 kWh battery
- 51.4 kWh battery with a claimed range of 473 km per charge.
It supports DC fast charging and AC charging. With a performance edge over the Creta N Line, the Creta Electric accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds.
Launch and Pricing
The Hyundai Creta Electric will officially launch on January 17, 2025, with pricing expected to be competitive within the segment. Its blend of design, range, and features positions it as one of the most anticipated EVs in India.
