2036 Olympics: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has appointed a consultant to conduct a comprehensive survey of the city’s road conditions, transport infrastructure, urban design, city beautification, logistics, and traffic management as part of its plan to transform Ahmedabad into an Olympic city by 2036.
Following a call for expressions of interest, four bids were submitted for the preparation of the master plan. After evaluating technical and financial proposals, AMC’s standing committee approved the appointment of Collage Design Pvt. Ltd. as the consultant for the project at a cost of ₹12.56 crore.
The master plan, developed under the Vision Ahmedabad 2036 and Viksit Ahmedabad 2047 initiatives, will address the city’s future needs. The planning process will occur in three stages. First, a detailed analysis of the current urban landscape, ongoing projects, and supply-demand gaps will be undertaken. Next, criteria for Ahmedabad 2036 and Viksit Ahmedabad 2047 will be defined, incorporating consultations with stakeholders from various sectors. Finally, a vision document will be prepared, detailing development priorities and the financial framework for implementing the plan.
The survey will cover key areas such as urban and commercial infrastructure, heritage and culture, education, healthcare, climate, sports facilities, and transportation networks, including air, rail, and road connectivity. The consultant will also propose locations for necessary infrastructure developments.
In addition, AMC plans to enhance the city’s road network and transport infrastructure, including the construction of flyovers, underpasses, and railway over-bridges, alongside traffic management improvements. The planning will align with Ahmedabad’s long-term growth and future demands.
