Second Pran Pratishtha at Ram Mandir
On January 22, 2024, the consecration (Pran Pratishtha) of the child form of Lord Ram was performed at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. Now, a second Pran Pratishtha ceremony is set to take place at the same temple. This time, Lord Ram will be consecrated in his royal form. While worship of the child form continues in the main sanctum (garbhagriha), devotees will now also be able to have darshan of the ‘Ram Darbar’ on the first floor.
In the Ram Darbar, idols of Lord Ram along with Mata Sita, Lord Hanuman, and his brothers Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughna will be installed. Preparations for the grand Pran Pratishtha ceremony scheduled on June 5 are in their final stages. During the consecration, darshan in the main sanctum will continue, and special arrangements and heightened security measures are being put in place for the devotees.
Alongside the Ram Mandir, other temples are also being constructed in the surrounding area. On June 5, Pran Pratishtha ceremonies will be held in seven temples, including those dedicated to Lord Shiva (Bholenath), Lord Ganesha, Mahabali Hanuman, Surya Dev, Goddess Bhagwati, and Maa Annapurna.
This time, the auspicious timing (muhurat) for the Pran Pratishtha has been determined by renowned scholars from Ayodhya. June 5 also marks Ganga Dussehra — the day believed to be the beginning of the Dwapar Yuga and the day Lord Ram is said to have established Rameshwaram.
The Pran Pratishtha celebrations will begin on June 2, with a Kalash Yatra from the Sarayu River. The final rituals, including puja, offerings (bhog), and aarti, will conclude the celebration on June 5. The Pran Pratishtha of Raja Ram will take place during the auspicious Abhijit Muhurat, from 11:25 AM to 11:40 AM.
