Ahmedabad Metro: The metro train service, which has become a lifeline for commuters in Ahmedabad, has undergone a major change. To enhance passenger convenience and make route identification easier, the Metro Rail Corporation has introduced a new color-coding system. Passengers will no longer need to remember only route names; they can now identify their metro line simply by its color and easily understand where the train will take them.
Why was this decision taken?
As the metro network continues to expand, this initiative aims to reduce confusion at stations and improve passenger flow. Following the example of global metro systems such as Delhi and London, Ahmedabad Metro will now operate with Blue, Red, Yellow, and Violet lines, making travel more modern, organized, and user-friendly.
Which routes have been assigned which colors?
The metro network connecting Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar has been divided into four major corridors, each represented by a distinct color.
How will passengers benefit?
- Easy navigation:
With color-coded displays and signboards at stations, passengers can quickly identify the correct platform from a distance. - Convenient interchanges:
At interchange stations like Old High Court, where two lines intersect, commuters can simply follow the Blue or Red Line indicators to catch their connecting train. - Tourist-friendly system:
For first-time visitors and tourists in Ahmedabad, understanding and using the metro network will now be much easier.
With Phase-2 of the Ahmedabad Metro becoming operational and services extending up to Gandhinagar, this color-coding system brings the metro closer to global standards and significantly enhances the overall travel experience.
Important information for passengers
