Nitin Nabin Appointed BJP National President: A New Era Begins
A new era has formally begun in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Nitin Nabin, a five-time MLA from Bihar, has assumed charge as the National President of the BJP. At 45 years of age, he is the youngest National President in the party’s history. He is also the first leader from Bihar and the first Kayastha leader to hold this position. Previously, this record was held by Amit Shah (49) and Nitin Gadkari (52).
Formal Appointment in the Presence of Prime Minister Modi
The formal appointment took place at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and several senior party leaders. Former BJP President J.P. Nadda, Nitin Gadkari, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, and Union Ministers S. Jaishankar and Hardeep Singh Puri were also present.
The ceremony was held at 11:30 AM, during which Prime Minister Modi congratulated the newly appointed president, Nitin Nabin.
Prime Minister Modi’s Address
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi said,
“Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister of the country and has been elected for a third term. I became a Chief Minister at a young age and have served in top government positions for over 25 years. All of this is fine, but the biggest thing is that I am a BJP worker. That is my greatest pride.
Nitin represents a new generation. He belongs to a generation that has witnessed many transformations in India. He has now taken charge as the BJP President and becomes the party’s 12th National President. From today, Nitin Nabin is my boss, and I am his worker. His responsibility is not only to strengthen the BJP but also to ensure coordination among all NDA allies.”

Vast Organisational and Administrative Experience
BJP National Election Officer Dr. K. Laxman announced that only one nomination was received for the post of National President—Nitin Nabin’s—leading to his unanimous election. A total of 37 sets of nomination papers were filed in his support, with BJP units across the country backing him.
Nitin Nabin has extensive experience in party organisation and administration. He has previously served successfully as the BJP in-charge for Chhattisgarh. Owing to this experience, the party leadership selected him after the completion of J.P. Nadda’s term.
From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, BJP units across India have endorsed his leadership. His role is expected to be crucial in strengthening the party’s organisational structure in the coming years.
Celebrations in Bihar and Bankipur
Before assuming office, Nitin Nabin visited several religious places in Delhi on Tuesday morning. He offered prayers at Jhandewalan Temple, Valmiki Temple, Hanuman Temple, and later sought blessings at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib.
There is a celebratory atmosphere in Bihar, especially in his home constituency of Bankipur. Local party workers are enthusiastic following the elevation of the five-time MLA to the party’s top post.
Bihar BJP leader Dr. Guru Prakash Paswan described the moment as “historic and a matter of pride.” The leadership transition sends a strong message that even an ordinary party worker can rise to the highest position within the BJP.
Delhi BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri, taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi, said,
“While opposition leaders only talk about Gen-Z, the BJP has made a 45-year-old party worker its National President. This is real democracy.”
