Mercedes-Benz India Launches Flagship Electric Maybach EQS 680 SUV
Mercedes-Benz India has unveiled its latest flagship electric SUV, the Maybach EQS 680, priced at ₹2.25 crore (ex-showroom) in the ultra-luxury segment. With this addition, the German automaker’s battery electric lineup in India now includes five models: EQA, EQB, EQE, EQS sedan, and the Maybach EQS 680.
Range and Battery: The Maybach EQS 680 is equipped with a substantial 107.8 kWh battery pack, offering an impressive range of up to 611 kilometres on a single charge. Powered by a dual-motor setup, the SUV boasts 484 kW and 950 Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.4 seconds, with a top speed of 210 kmph. A 200 kW fast charger can recharge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 31 minutes.
Design: The Maybach EQS 680 SUV showcases distinctive luxury elements, including the iconic Mercedes star on the hood and chrome-plated filigree slats on the bumper’s air intake. The classic MAYBACH lettering is elegantly integrated into a chrome strip that aligns with the continuous digital headlights. The Maybach pattern is featured on trim parts of the side bumper and projected onto the doors. Other design highlights include chrome accents on the windows, B-pillar, and Maybach emblem on the D-pillar, with pronounced wheel arches framed by high-gloss black cladding. The SUV is available with exclusive 21 or 22-inch alloy wheels and illuminated running boards with anodized aluminium treads. At the rear, continuous light strip rear lights and chrome accents on the tailgate, rear apron, and spoiler lip emphasize the SUV’s exclusivity. Customers can choose from five two-tone paint combinations.
Cabin and Features: Inside, the Maybach EQS 680 boasts the MBUX Hyperscreen with a “zero layer” interface and an animated instrument cluster in “MAYBACH” mode with rose gold surrounds. Rear passengers enjoy two 11.6-inch displays, a rear tablet for remote control, and MBUX Interior Assist for gesture-based functions. The standard executive seats offer ventilation, massage functions, neck and shoulder heating, calf massage, and a chauffeur package.
Ambient lighting extends throughout the cabin, including the roof liner and behind the rear seats, with Active Ambient Lighting providing 253 controllable LEDs in 64 colour options. The vehicle’s audio experience is enhanced by the Burmester 4D surround sound system with Dolby Atmos technology, featuring 15 speakers, bass speakers, 3D speakers, and seat exciters.
The Maybach EQS 680 is the first in the brand to use vegetable-tanned Nappa leather, utilizing coffee bean shells as tanning agents and plant-based fat liquoring agents, eliminating the need for salt and saving approximately 45 kilograms per vehicle. The SUV also incorporates sustainable materials such as secondary steel and recycled aluminium, with net carbon-neutral production for both the vehicle and its battery.
