Air India Express: Air India Express was forced to cancel over 70 flights, both international and domestic, from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning due to a sudden influx of sick leave requests from senior crew members, causing significant disruptions according to the airlines’ spokesperson.

“A portion of our cabin crew called in sick unexpectedly, beginning last night, leading to delays and flight cancellations,” the spokesperson stated.

“On Wednesday, the Air India Express spokesperson mentioned that they are in discussions with the crew to comprehend the reasons behind these incidents. Meanwhile, their teams are proactively tackling the issue to mitigate any inconvenience experienced by passengers,” the spokesperson stated.

Additionally, the spokesperson informed that affected passengers would either receive a full refund or be provided with complimentary rescheduling options. “Passengers affected by cancellations will have the choice of a full refund or complimentary rescheduling to an alternative date. Those traveling with us today are advised to verify if their flight is affected before proceeding to the airport,” the spokesperson concluded.

The airlines expressed their regret for the inconvenience caused, stating, “We sincerely apologize to our guests for this unforeseen disruption and wish to underscore that this situation does not align with the service standards we aspire to uphold.”

Additionally, the civil aviation authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter.
