Chennai: Daniel Balaji, known for his roles in “Vettaiyadu Vilayadu” and “Kaaka Kaaka,” passed away from a heart attack in Chennai on Friday night. He was 48 years old.

After complaining of chest pain, the actor was swiftly taken to a hospital in the city, but unfortunately, he passed away despite receiving medical attention. According to a report in India Today, Balaji’s body was then transported to his residence in the Purasaiwalkam area of Chennai for the final rites.

Director Mohan Raja paid tribute to the late actor, expressing how Daniel Balaji’s work had inspired him to pursue a career in the film industry.

Balaji’s journey in the film industry commenced as a unit production manager in Kamal Haasan’s ambitious project, ‘Marudhunayagam’. However, it was his portrayal of an IPS officer in the 2003 Suriya-starrer “Kaaka Kaaka” that catapulted him to stardom, earning recognition and acclaim from both the film fraternity and audiences within the Tamil film industry.

In addition to his notable presence in Tamil cinema, Balaji ventured into acting in Kannada, Malayalam, and Telugu films. He also made a mark in the television industry with his role in Radikaa Sarathkumar’s “Chithhi.” His compelling portrayal of Daniel in the series led to him being recognized by the screen name Daniel Balaji.
