CRS App: Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced a new mobile app called the Civil Registration System (CRS) on Tuesday, aimed at streamlining birth and death registration. Developed by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India, the app is expected to simplify and accelerate the registration process.

Amit Shah highlighted the app’s alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India initiative, sharing a post on X. The app allows citizens to register births and deaths at any time and in the official language of their state, significantly reducing registration times.

A video from the Registrar General of India was also shared, demonstrating the app’s interface. The CRS app facilitates digital certificate delivery, digitizes legacy records, and is designed to avoid imposing extra financial responsibilities on states for its upkeep.

    How it Works:

    1. Registrars download the CRS app from the Google Play Store and log in using their credentials.
    2. After a captcha and OTP verification, users access a home screen displaying birth and death registration options.
    3. The menu provides options for registering births, deaths, stillbirths, adoptions, and viewing payment details.
    4. To register a birth or death, registrars select the respective option, enter relevant information, complete payment, and generate the certificate.
    5. The certificates are downloadable directly from the CRS app.
