Stray Dog Feeding Spots in Ahmedabad
To control the issue of stray dogs and the unhygienic conditions caused by indiscriminate feeding, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has issued new guidelines. In compliance with the ABC Rules-2023, AMC has identified 100 designated dog feeding spots across the city. Going forward, citizens will be allowed to feed stray dogs only at these approved locations.
Allocation of Feeding Spots Across 48 Wards
According to available information, after conducting surveys across all 7 zones and 48 wards of Ahmedabad, AMC has finalised 100 dog feeding spots. Special banners and signboards have been installed at these locations to inform the public. The complete list of designated feeding spots will be published soon on the official AMC website. Based on future requirements and consultations with various organisations, additional feeding spots may be added.

Penalty for Feeding Dogs in Public Places
To maintain cleanliness, AMC has issued a strict warning to citizens. If anyone is found feeding or giving water to stray dogs on public roads, footpaths, or society entrances, they will face penal action under public health by-laws. To spread awareness about these new rules, AMC will also launch a dedicated IEC awareness campaign.
The primary objectives behind this decision are to prevent unhygienic conditions caused by roadside feeding and to reduce attacks on pedestrians resulting from fights among dogs over food. Following this order, animal lovers will now be required to feed stray dogs only at the designated feeding spots approved by AMC.
