A Sky Full of Stars Descends on Ahmedabad: Coldplay’s Magical Debut at Motera Stadium
Ahmedabad witnessed an unforgettable evening as Coldplay brought their signature Paradise to the Motera stadium on Saturday. Making their highly anticipated debut in Gujarat, the British pop-rock legends drew fans from across the country for a night of euphoric celebration, Viva La Vida-style.
The atmosphere was electric as fans from Ahmedabad and beyond shimmered with excitement. From Coldplay-themed T-shirts and jackets to glamorous party ensembles featuring sequins, off-shoulder tops, and sky-high stilettos paired with denim, the crowd arrived in style.
The concert kicked off at 8 PM, and as the band created Magic with their electrifying performance, the stadium transformed into a dazzling Kaleidoscope of lights and colors. Fans flooded the roads leading to the venue, creating a traffic symphony that rivaled Coldplay’s biggest hits. With all metro trains metaphorically All Yellow, the city ensured smooth connectivity with extended metro services and over 3,800 police personnel securing the event.

Rohan Bhatt, a food entrepreneur from Ahmedabad, shared his excitement: “I’ve never seen a concert of this scale! The vibe here is incredible. Friends of mine even came from Bengaluru just for this. We’re expecting pure magic.”
For many, it was more than just a concert—it was a shared odyssey of nostalgia and passion. From timeless classics like Clocks to newer anthems, Coldplay delivered an Adventure of a Lifetime under the expansive Motera sky.
Rush Hour at the Metro
To accommodate the overwhelming number of fans, 18 metro trains were operational, with six additional trains on standby. By 3 PM, every rail line led to Motera, with long queues at ticket counters. Paper tickets were specially made available, and stations issued return tickets to ease post-concert travel. Despite some stations running out of ticketing paper rolls, fans braved the crowds to catch their favorite band.
Unprecedented Security Measures
With over 3,800 police personnel and the National Security Guard (NSG) on duty, security was airtight. The venue was monitored round-the-clock with 400+ CCTV cameras, metal detectors, and plainclothes officers. Bomb detection squads and quick response teams were on standby, while 10 dedicated units conducted regular sweeps. Women police officers ensured safety at entry points, and medical teams were strategically stationed for emergencies. Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G.S. Malik personally inspected arrangements, extending enhanced security to metro stations and public areas.
Deep Murzello, a Mumbai-based advocate, summed up the experience: “It’s been chaotic, but it’s worth it. We faced some challenges getting here, but we’re ready to vibe with Coldplay.”
For Ahmedabad, this historic concert was not just an event—it was a momentous celebration of music, unity, and unbridled joy.
