Ahmedabad: The Navratri festivities brought a wave of joy to car and two-wheeler dealerships across Gujarat. After a sluggish September, dealers were hopeful, as the festive season of Navratri and Dussehra sparked a surge in bookings and deliveries. According to estimates from the Federation of Automobile Dealers’ Association (FADA) Gujarat, around 44,000 vehicles — mostly cars and two-wheelers — were delivered statewide on Dussehra alone, with Ahmedabad accounting for 7,400 units.
Rural demand, driven by higher agricultural incomes, along with dealer incentives such as discounts and offers, significantly boosted sales of two- and four-wheelers. Pranav Shah, chairman of FADA Gujarat, noted, “The losses from the September downturn will be fully recovered in October, thanks to strong demand throughout Navratri and Dussehra. Rural markets played a key role in the rise, with even luxury cars seeing notable interest.”
Shah added, “While spot bookings increased by 10% compared to last year, some deliveries were delayed due to the mandatory vehicle number plate requirement.” Over the 10-day festival period, approximately 90,000 two-wheelers and 21,000 four-wheelers were sold across Gujarat, with two-wheeler sales rising by 8-10% and car sales by 6-8% compared to last year’s Dussehra.
Jigar Vyas, CEO of a local dealership, emphasized the strong sales momentum, stating, “This festive season will continue to drive substantial growth, particularly with upcoming muhurats like Dhanteras. Premium hatchbacks, entry- and mid-level SUVs, and multi-utility vehicles are in high demand. Increasing disposable incomes, aspirational lifestyles, and easy access to financing are the key factors behind this surge.”
