Ahmedabad: The civic body is seeking consultants to design an aviary at Kankaria Zoo as part of its expansion plan to create a natural habitat for a wider variety of birds, according to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) officials.

“Landscape design will be crucial, seamlessly integrating water features, walkways, and planting beds to create a natural environment for both birds and visitors,” an official said.

The centerpiece of the aviary will be a series of interconnected domes, each over 25 feet high. These segmented structures will provide designated spaces for water birds, ground birds, raptors, and high-flying species, with special nesting areas and landing perches incorporated, according to the Request for Proposal (RFP) note released on June 26.
