    Railway Milestone: PM Modi Declares Today a ‘Historic Day’ as 2,000 Projects Set to Launch, Including Gurugram Station Renovation

    New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the upgrade of the Gurugram railway station on Monday, February 26. Additionally, he will dedicate approximately 2,000 railway infrastructure projects, collectively valued at ₹41,000 crore, through a video conferencing event. The projects are expected to cover various aspects of railway development and modernization across the country. The focus on railway infrastructure is part of ongoing efforts to enhance connectivity, efficiency, and safety in the Indian railway network.

    In a post on a social media platform (X, formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed that it is a historic day for the Indian Railways. He mentioned that at 12:30 PM, around 2,000 railway infrastructure projects, with a cumulative value exceeding Rs. 41,000 crores, will be dedicated to the nation. The dedication of these projects reflects a significant investment in the enhancement and modernization of the railway network in India.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted that as part of efforts to enhance the travel experience, 553 stations will be redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The foundation stones for these station redevelopment projects would be laid. Additionally, the inauguration of overbridges and underpasses across various locations in India is planned. These initiatives are aimed at contributing to the “Ease of Living” for the people.

    Here are the key updates on the railway project inaugurations:

    1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 553 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat scheme, focusing on improving facilities through rooftop plazas and city centers.
    2. Additionally, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for nearly 1,500 road overbridges and underbridges across various states, enhancing infrastructure connectivity.
    3. The Amrit Bharat stations, situated in 27 states and Union Territories, will undergo redevelopment at a cost exceeding ₹19,000 crores.
    4. These stations will serve as ‘city centers’ with modern amenities like roof plazas, landscaping, inter-modal connectivity, modern facades, children’s play areas, kiosks, and food courts.
    5. The redevelopment will prioritize environmental and Divyang-friendly aspects, incorporating designs inspired by local culture, heritage, and architecture.
    6. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone, inaugurate, and dedicate 1,500 overbridges and underpasses across 24 states and Union Territories, with a total cost of approximately ₹21,520 crores.
    7. These infrastructure projects aim to reduce congestion, enhance safety and connectivity, and improve the capacity and efficiency of rail travel.
    8. The Gurugram railway station will undergo upgrading in the first phase, with an estimated project cost of ₹295 crores.
    9. PM Modi will inaugurate the redeveloped Gomti Nagar station in Uttar Pradesh, costing around ₹385 crores, featuring segregated arrival and departure facilities, central air-conditioning, and modern passenger amenities.
    10. The projects aim to cater to increased future passenger footfall, integrating various aspects of modern railway infrastructure and passenger experience.
