Rajasthan Lift Collapse: Fourteen officials and members of a vigilance team from PSU Hindustan Copper Limited found themselves trapped in a mine situated in Rajasthan’s Neem ka Thana district, approximately 108 km from Jaipur, the state capital.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday night within the confines of Kolihan mine, as a vertical shaft utilized for personnel transportation collapsed. Following the mishap, a rescue operation swiftly commenced to extricate those trapped underground.
Fortunately, all individuals were successfully rescued, ensuring their safety.
Shishram, a nursing staffer at Jhunjhunu Government Hospital, reported that the individuals trapped in the mine mainly suffered limb fractures, with three of them sustaining serious injuries. However, all 14 people were safely rescued, with the aid of a ladder during the rescue operation, as stated to news agency ANI.
Dr. Pravin Sharma from Jhunjhunu Government Hospital confirmed the successful rescue of all trapped individuals, noting that three of them with severe injuries have been referred to a hospital in Jaipur for further treatment.

Fourteen officials from Hindustan Copper Limited found themselves trapped inside the Kolihan mine in Rajasthan after a lift collapse on Tuesday night. By Wednesday morning, all 14 individuals were successfully rescued, although three of them sustained serious injuries and were subsequently referred to Jaipur for medical attention.
During the rescue operation, Superintendent of Police Praveen Nayak from Neem ka Thana district confirmed the presence of a rescue team on-site to aid the trapped personnel, some of whom were injured. Efforts were focused on extracting individuals stuck at a considerable depth within the Kolihan mine.
The incident occurred as a vigilance team, accompanied by senior officials of the state-owned company, were conducting an inspection within the mine, according to preliminary information provided by PTI. As the officials were preparing to ascend, a rope in the shaft or ‘cage’ snapped, resulting in approximately 14 individuals becoming trapped.
In response to the incident, Khetri MLA Dharmpal Gurjar visited the site to assess the situation firsthand. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma also addressed the incident via Twitter, instructing concerned officials to expedite relief and rescue operations while ensuring necessary assistance and medical facilities for the affected individuals.

BJP MLA Dharmpal Gurjar commented on the incident, stating, “I had gone to Haryana for election campaign but when I got this information, I immediately came here. I called everyone and took stock of the entire situation. I have called the SDM here.” He also mentioned that the rescue team was actively providing relief to the trapped officials, with approximately seven ambulances present at the scene. Gurjar reassured, “The entire administration is on alert. There is no report of any death so far, definitely everyone will come out safely.”
