Trichy: PM Modi’s Trichy visit: Inaugurating projects worth Rs 19,850 crore, including a new two-level terminal at Trichy airport costing Rs 1,100 crore. The visit focuses on key infrastructure developments and road projects in Tamil Nadu.

The New Terminal Building at Tiruchirappalli International Airport to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. Developed at a cost of more than Rs 1,100 crores, the two-level new international terminal building has the capacity to serve more than 44 lakh passengers annually.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to commence the Election Year 2024 with a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep. Amid speculation of contesting from a southern constituency, the visit aims to boost the ruling party’s presence in a region not traditionally aligned with it.
The focus will be on Tamil Nadu, where recent remarks by Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, stirred controversy but were later clarified as a call to end caste discrimination, not an attack on Sanatan Dharma.

Trichy city residents received a pleasant surprise as the Trichy-Pudukottai national highway underwent a makeover ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. The Trichy International Airport, situated along the highway, saw the addition of heritage-style streetlights and colorful tree guards, enhancing the aesthetics of the road.

A swift response to the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Trichy resulted in the installation of heritage-style streetlights along a 2 km stretch of the highway connecting the airport to Thiruvalarchipatti.
The delay in installing these lights was overcome, and the road’s dim-lit condition was permanently addressed. Additionally, sanitation efforts were intensified, with 150 workers deployed to clean the airport premises and another team assigned to clean the vacant space adjacent to the highway. The area also saw the installation of colorful wooden tree guards for newly planted tree saplings.
