The Kalpvas, a significant tradition of the Maha Kumbh that began on January 13, will conclude on Maghi Purnima, Wednesday, February 12, 2025. In preparation, authorities have declared the entire Maha Kumbh district a ‘No Vehicle Zone’ from 5 p.m. on February 11 until the end of February 12.
The massive influx of devotees heading to Prayagraj has led to traffic congestion and long jams along key routes. Devotees are being directed to park their vehicles in designated zones along specific routes to ease movement.
“The sheer scale of the gathering has stretched Prayagraj’s infrastructure beyond its capacity. Traffic delays are inevitable, not due to mismanagement but simply because of the overwhelming number of devotees,” said Prashant Kumar, U.P. DGP.
According to a statement from the Uttar Pradesh government, over 10 lakh devotees have participated in Kalpvas at the Triveni Sangam this year. The tradition involves a month-long period of fasting, self-discipline, and Satsang by the Sangam banks, from Paush Purnima to Maghi Purnima.
Meanwhile, Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed that Prayagraj railway stations are functioning normally, urging the public not to believe rumors about station closures.
