Uttar Pradesh: During Yogi Adityanath’s leadership in the Uttar Pradesh Government, significant strides have been made in improving the state’s crime landscape. This progress is largely credited to the proactive policies and strong actions taken by the government to combat criminal activities. Previously feared figures such as Munna Bajrangi and Mukhtar Ansari, who once terrorized local communities, are now on the run, desperately seeking refuge to evade law enforcement.
Some gangsters have even requested transfer to jails outside Uttar Pradesh to avoid facing consequences for their actions. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, since assuming office in March 2017, has prioritized law and order, establishing an anti-mafia task force and issuing stern warnings to criminals. Police actions, including encounters, have been initiated to combat crime, particularly those targeting vulnerable sections of society.
In a fiery address within the legislative assembly, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath vowed, “I declare in this House, we will obliterate this criminal mafia.” He further asserted, “We will eradicate every single mafia,” emphasizing his commitment to combat organized crime.
Four prominent gangsters, including Mukhtar Ansari, Munna Bajrangi, Vikas Dubey, and Atiq Ahmed, met their demise, facing the fate they feared while in police custody.
Mukhtar Ansari, a jailed gangster-turned-politician, passed away at Banda Medical College in Uttar Pradesh after suffering a heart attack. Ansari, facing numerous criminal cases, including a recent life imprisonment sentence, had been hospitalized twice within days, amidst allegations of poisoning.
Munna Bajrangi, known for his involvement in contract killings, met his end when gangster Sunil Rathi fatally shot him at Baghpat District Jail. Despite contesting elections from jail, Bajrangi’s criminal career came to a tragic end.
Vikas Dubey, notorious for his involvement in multiple crimes, including the killing of policemen, was arrested in Madhya Pradesh and subsequently killed in an encounter with the police. An inquiry found no wrongdoing by the police in his death.
Atiq Ahmed, a gangster and politician with a long history of criminal activities, was assassinated in Prayagraj while being escorted for a medical checkup. The attackers, posing as media personnel, surrendered after the murder, revealing their motive of gaining recognition by eliminating Ahmed’s gang, despite heavy security measures.
