Pahalgam Terrorist Attack: Nation Outraged, Government Promises Strong Action
The country is filled with anger following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. There is a growing demand for strict retaliation against those responsible. In this context, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh made a strong statement, saying, “We have lost many innocent lives in the cowardly attack in Pahalgam. We are deeply saddened by this. I extend my condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. Our policy is one of zero tolerance towards terrorism.”
He added, “I want to assure the people of the nation that the government will take every necessary step. We will not only bring the perpetrators to justice but also expose those behind the scenes. The guilty will face a strong and clear response very soon.”
Army Prepared for Retaliation
In the aftermath of the attack, the Modi government has gone on high alert. Prime Minister Narendra Modi cut short his visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to Delhi, where he immediately went into action mode. A CCS (Cabinet Committee on Security) meeting is scheduled for 6 PM.
During this time, all three armed forces’ chiefs briefed Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and confirmed that they are fully prepared to respond to any situation.

Sources say a high-level meeting chaired by the Defence Minister was held in Delhi to review the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting included CDS General Anil Chauhan, the chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, Defence Secretary, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
Emergency Meeting with Defence Chiefs and NSA
The Defence Minister convened an emergency meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, the chiefs of the three armed forces, and NSA Ajit Doval to assess the impact of the Pahalgam attack and review the security scenario in the Union Territory. The meeting lasted for nearly two and a half hours.
Earlier in the day, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi briefed the Defence Minister on the security situation in Pahalgam and the wider region. All aspects of security in Jammu and Kashmir were thoroughly discussed.
Security Meeting Lasts Two and a Half Hours
Under the leadership of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the meeting focused on all security-related aspects in Jammu and Kashmir. It was attended by NSA Ajit Doval, the three service chiefs, and the CDS. Following this, Singh was scheduled to attend the CCS meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi. The CCS is the top body responsible for national security decisions.
J&K Police Also Involved in Search Operations
Prime Minister Modi returned to Delhi, cutting short his Saudi Arabia trip. Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to the victims in Srinagar and met their families. Security forces have intensified the search for the attackers. Alongside the Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police are also actively participating in the search operation. Victor Force and Special Operations Group personnel are currently engaged in locating the terrorists involved.
