New Delhi: Amit Shah, the Minister of Home Affairs, remarked that there’s a prevailing sentiment regarding the Supreme Court’s granting of interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case, suggesting it’s perceived as preferential treatment. Shah underscored that the judgment diverges from routine judicial orders, expressing his views during a media discussion as a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Amit Shah’s comments suggest a strong stance against what he perceives as contempt of court by Arvind Kejriwal. By highlighting Kejriwal’s statement about not returning to jail if people vote for his party’s symbol, Shah implies that it undermines the authority of the judiciary.

Additionally, Shah questions whether the Supreme Court’s decision to grant interim bail was appropriate and implies that it may have been influenced or misused. He also dismisses claims that the central government had been monitoring Kejriwal in jail, asserting that Tihar jail falls under the jurisdiction of the AAP-led Delhi government.

Shah’s assertion about Narendra Modi remaining the leader until 2029 and beyond is a strong declaration of support for the Prime Minister and a rebuttal to Kejriwal’s prediction of a change in leadership within the BJP after the 2024 election results.

The upcoming elections for Delhi’s seven seats, with the AAP and Congress contesting in alliance, add further context to the political dynamics at play.
