New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi dismissed the notion that the electoral bond issue had negatively impacted his government, emphasizing that while no system is flawless, improvements can always be made. He warned that those celebrating over the matter would eventually regret their actions.

In an interview with Thanthi TV, PM Modi defended the electoral bond system implemented by his government, asserting that it has enabled the tracing of funding sources and beneficiaries. He highlighted the transparency brought about by the bond system, contrasting it with the opacity of pre-2014 funding mechanisms.

Acknowledging that no system is perfect, PM Modi expressed openness to addressing any shortcomings in the electoral bond system.

Opposition parties have seized on revelations stemming from Supreme Court orders, which have shed light on anonymous funding practices via electoral bonds, to criticize the government. Several companies under criminal investigation have emerged as significant purchasers of these bonds.

PM Modi urged against politicizing every action, reaffirming his dedication to national welfare and emphasizing Tamil Nadu’s importance to the country. He emphasized his government’s efforts in the northeastern states, countering claims that electoral considerations solely dictate his policies and actions.

“Just because I am a politician doesn’t mean my focus is solely on winning elections. Tamil Nadu holds immense potential that should be harnessed,” he asserted.

Highlighting the National Democratic Alliance’s role in representing diverse societal segments and people’s aspirations, he emphasized that votes garnered in Tamil Nadu would be in favor of the BJP’s vision rather than against the DMK.

“People have witnessed our decade-long efforts. Tamil Nadu has chosen the BJP-NDA alliance this time,” he stated, underscoring the BJP’s commitment to the state’s development, even when lacking municipal candidates.

Commending Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai for his youth appeal, PM Modi refuted suggestions of monetary motives, citing Annamalai’s choice not to join the DMK.

“Viksit Bharat entails development reaching every corner of the nation. Tamil Nadu, with its potential, can spearhead this vision,” he expressed.

PM Modi lamented the politicization of the Tamil language, advocating for its promotion alongside the globalization of the state’s cuisine. He criticized the detrimental effects of language politicization on both Tamil Nadu and the nation.
