Lok Sabha 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his objective to secure a victory of over 400 seats in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, citing it as a strategic move to prevent the Congress party from reinstating Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Bharatiya Janata Party leader underscored that securing 400 seats for the BJP-led NDA would act as a deterrent against any potential actions by the Congress to impose restrictions, symbolized by a “Babri lock,” on the newly constructed Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Modi delivered his remarks at a rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar, where he strongly criticized Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s proposal for a Muslim quota.
He further asserted that the opposition within the INDIA bloc was involved in a deeper conspiracy, intending to reserve all benefits for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) solely for their political advantage.
Speaking at the rally, Modi accused the Congress of spreading rumors that the BJP, if re-elected for a third consecutive term, would alter the Constitution, suggesting that such claims reflect the Congress’s narrow focus on its voter base. The BJP has consistently criticized opposition parties for indulging in vote-bank politics and appeasement, while also alleging that the Congress intends to exclusively extend reservation benefits to the Muslim community.

“It’s crucial for the citizens to understand that the BJP-led NDA already commands over 400 seats in Parliament, a mandate we utilized to revoke Article 370,” Modi emphasized, highlighting the provision’s special status for Jammu and Kashmir. Further elaborating on the necessity for exceeding 400 seats, Modi stressed, “I aim for 400 seats to prevent the Congress from reviving Article 370 and obstructing progress in Ayodhya’s Ram Temple.”
Modi articulated his desire for 400 Lok Sabha seats to thwart what he termed as the Congress’s “exploitation” of the OBC quota for political gain, citing the BJP’s utilization of its parliamentary strength to extend SC/ST reservations, appoint a tribal woman as the nation’s President for the first time, and advocate for women’s reservation.
