New Delhi: Cricket Australia (CA) has launched an investigation into an incident involving prominent all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. The star cricketer, reportedly hospitalized after a night out in Adelaide, is set to face questioning from CA regarding the recent occurrence. The incident took place after Maxwell attended a concert featuring the band Six & Out, which includes former cricket legends like Brett Lee.
A representative from Cricket Australia commented, “Cricket Australia is cognizant of an incident involving Glenn Maxwell in Adelaide over the weekend and is actively seeking additional information.“
Known for his aggressive style of play, Glenn Maxwell has been left out of the upcoming 50-overs series against the West Indies, although Cricket Australia clarified that this decision is unrelated to the incident in Adelaide. Maxwell is expected to make a comeback for the Twenty20 series against the West Indies, commencing on February 9 after the completion of the one-day international games. Despite recent setbacks, Maxwell played a pivotal role in Australia’s 50-overs World Cup victory against hosts India. This incident adds to a series of unfortunate events for Maxwell, including missing a World Cup match due to an injury sustained while falling off a golf cart and breaking his leg in November 2022 after slipping at a friend’s birthday party.
