The veteran spinner recently reached the landmark of 500 Test wickets, further solidifying his place as one of India’s cricket legends.

The others were – Sunil Gavaskar (125), Dilip Vengsarkar (116), Kapil Dev (131), Sachin Tendulkar (200), Anil Kumble (132), Rahul Dravid (164), Sourav Ganguly (113), VVS Laxman (134), Harbhajan Singh (103), Virender Sehwag (104), Ishant Sharma (105), Virat Kohli (113) and Cheteshwar Pujara (103).

Ravichandran Ashwin, in his historic 100th Test, contributed to India’s strong performance as the team bundled out England for 218 on the opening day of the fifth Test in Dharamsala.

Kuldeep Yadav‘s impressive five-wicket haul played a crucial role in restricting England‘s innings. Ashwin, along with Yadav, showcased the prowess of the Indian spin attack.

At the end of the day, India reached 135-1, with skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill at the crease. Yashasvi Jaiswal, with a brilliant 57, led the way before getting stumped by rookie off-spinner Shoaib Bashir. India trails England by 83 runs.
