Team India T20 World Cup Victory Parade: The Indian cricket team arrived at the Wankhede Stadium following an open-top bus victory parade along Marine Drive in Mumbai. Earlier in the day, they received a rousing reception at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.

Team India had a packed schedule today: meeting PM Narendra Modi in New Delhi in the morning, then traveling to Mumbai for a BCCI felicitation function at the Wankhede Stadium, and conducting an open bus trophy tour in the city. Fans were allowed free entry to the felicitation function at the Wankhede Stadium on a first-come, first-served basis, with gates opening at 4 pm. To accommodate the parade, Mumbai’s traffic police closed seven roads in South Mumbai and prohibited parking on ten roads.

After being stranded in Barbados due to a hurricane, the team was flown out on a specially-arranged charter flight. They traveled from Barbados to New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Air India flight AIC24WC — Air India Champions 24 World Cup — departing around 4:50 am local time on Wednesday and arriving in Delhi at 6 am IST on Thursday after a 16-hour non-stop journey. Team India clinched the T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa by seven runs in the final in Bridgetown last Saturday.

Rohit heaps praise on Pandya, Wankhede erupts

Among the moments that received the loudest of applause from the Wankhede crowd was when the Indian skipper praised his deputy Hardik Pandya for seeing through the T20 World Cup final for India with the ball.

“Hats off to him to bowl that last over. No matter how many runs you need, there’s always so much pressure to bowl that over. Hats off to him,” said the Indian skipper before the Wankhede crowd started chanting “Hardik! Hardik!”. The Indian all-rounder broke into a smile, stood up and waved at the crowd.
